Strict Enforcement of Total Shutdown on Bonn Street
In the coming weeks, passengers of bus lines 711 and 720 in Hürth-Hermülheim, Germany, will experience some changes due to construction work on Bonn Street. The local municipal authorities of Hürth and the contracted construction company assigned by the city administration will be responsible for the road construction and surface renewal, which is expected to last from April 14 to May 9, 2025.
During this period, Bonn Street will be completely closed at the level of Hohlweg. As a result, bus line 711, which usually passes through Hermülheimer Straße, will be rerouted via Theresienhöhe, Frechener Straße, and Sudetenstraße when coming from Hürth Mitte (ZOB). The bus line will circle the Sudetenstraße/Bonnstraße roundabout during this reroute due to the full closure of Hermülheimer Straße. After the closure, bus line 711 will resume its regular route from the "De Bütt" stop.
Similarly, bus line 720 will be rerouted during the closure. When coming from Hürth Mitte (ZOB), the line will resume its normal route from the "Komturring" stop. Passengers of the "Rathaus/Bürgerhaus" stop can use the regular "Hürth Mitte (ZOB)" stop, while those of the "Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium" stop can also use the regular "Hürth Mitte (ZOB)" stop or the "De Bütt" stop on line 711.
Unfortunately, the "Rathaus/Bürgerhaus", "Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium", "Kirchenzentrum", and "Deutscher Ring" stops will not be in service during the closure period. Passengers of the "Kirchenzentrum" stop can board and alight at the regular "Hürth Mitte (ZOB)" or "De Bütt" stops. Passengers of the "Deutscher Ring" stop can use the regular "De Bütt" stop on line 711.
The bollard system on Bonn Street will also undergo repairs during the construction period. The closure of the Bonn Street will affect the operation of both bus lines 711 and 720. It is advised for passengers to plan their journeys accordingly and check the latest updates on the local public transportation website or mobile app.
After May 9, 2025, the road surface renewal and construction work will be completed, and the bus lines will return to their regular routes. Until then, passengers can expect some changes and temporary rerouting of their bus services.
