Suzuki Invests ₹38,000 Crore in Gujarat to Boost EV Production
Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) Japan has announced major investments in Gujarat. The company plans to spend over ₹38,000 crore to boost production capacity at its Hansalpur plant.
The investments were revealed at the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Summit. A significant portion, ₹3,200 crore, will go towards adding a fourth assembly line at the Hansalpur plant. This new line will produce 2.5 lakh electric vehicles annually, increasing the total annual production to 10 lakh units.
The new assembly line will also bolster electric vehicle production at the plant. Suzuki has been operating in Gujarat for eight years, with its first electric cars rolling off the production line in Vithalapur in August. This indicates ongoing investment activities in the state.
SMC's substantial investment in Gujarat will significantly increase its production capacity and strengthen its presence in the Indian market, particularly in electric vehicle manufacturing.
