Tesla's International Sales Dip 13% as Musk Enters India
Tesla has reported a 13% dip in international sales during the second quarter of 2025, delivering 384,122 cars. This marks the second consecutive drop, raising concerns about annual sales declines. The company's reputation has been impacted by Elon Musk's political activities and complaints about faulty vehicles.
Despite the sales slump, the Tesla truck continues to make headway against diesel models. In a bid to boost sales, Elon Musk has entered the Indian market. Looking ahead, Tesla aims to commence deliveries of the Tesla Semi in 2026, with prices set between $150,000 and $200,000.
The Tesla Semi has impressed with an average energy efficiency of 1.55 kWh per mile in tests by ArcBest, the best reported so far. However, Tesla faces stiff competition from other electric car manufacturers like BYD. There are whispers of a potential price hike for the Tesla Semi. To finish the year with growth, Tesla needs to make up a deficit of nearly 110,000 automotive parts in the second half of 2025.
Tesla's international sales have taken a hit, but the Tesla truck's progress and the upcoming launch of the Tesla Semi offer hope. With fierce competition and a parts deficit to overcome, Tesla must navigate these challenges to achieve growth by the end of the year.
