Valued at £15 billion and employing over 200,000 people, this sector has seen a remarkable 200% increase in exports over the last decade.
The Cumberland, known for its specialist commercial lending and savings products, aims to help businesses navigate challenges such as rising outgoings, supply chain issues, staffing shortages, and sustainability efforts through its Kinder Banking approach. The society provides a range of services including mortgages, current accounts, and business savings accounts, tailored to the unique needs of food and drink sector businesses.
Scott McKerracher, head of commercial at The Cumberland, expressed excitement about joining Scotland Food & Drink, stating, 'We're thrilled to support more businesses in the sector.' Ian Baxter, chief executive of Scotland Food & Drink, welcomed The Cumberland's membership, highlighting the additional support and expertise it brings to businesses. The society has already supported local businesses like Monachyle Mhor and Garside Butchers with investments and relocations.
