Timeless charm of classic sports cars captured in the latest Morgan Supersport model

The Morgan Motor Company, known for its classic sports cars, has unveiled its latest model - the Morgan Supersport. The new two-seater, a significant departure from its predecessor, the Plus Six, was unveiled at the company's London Headquarters.

The Supersport's design is inspired by the Midsummer, a car designed in collaboration with Pininfarina, and several years in the making. Compared to previous models, the Supersport boasts a slightly fuller bodied form, reminiscent of the evolution of Jaguar's designs from the XK120 to the E-Type.

The Supersport's bodywork boasts a greater purity of line, with tighter tolerances and more precise geometry. Simplified vents, ducts, and aerodynamics are noticeable, with the distinctive bonnet louvres replaced by an air extractor and vents hidden beneath the folding bonnet.

The Supersport's cabin is a fabulous place to sit, with a wood, leather, and aluminium interior offering a precise indication of the car's placement on the road. The ash frame, a traditional feature in Morgan cars, is exposed and polished for the first time in the Supersport. The dashboard has been updated with new dials, but is still laid out according to symmetry rather than ergonomics.

The Morgan Supersport retains a BMW-sourced six-cylinder engine, but other aspects like the suspension geometry and bodywork have been significantly updated. The Supersport now has a proper boot with stowage space for weekend bags and removable side windows. The Supersport's folding canvas mechanism for the hood stows neatly behind the seats when not in use.

The Morgan Supersport will be built in lower numbers than the Plus Four, with an estimated output of one to two cars per week. The factory's capacity is effectively capped at 800 cars a year, and the target for the short term is to produce this number.

The Morgan Motor Company's latest model, the Morgan Plus Four, carries design elements reminiscent of cars built in the 50s and 60s. The Plus Four, unlike the Supersport, can be sold in the USA.

The Supersport's cabin features an info-screen tucked behind the steering wheel and a visible volume control for the Sennheiser audio system. The shallow flat slab windscreen is served by three stubby and industrious wipers.

Steven Armstrong, formerly working for Ford of Europe, became the non-executive chairman of Morgan Motor Company in February 2025, succeeding Lawrence Price.

The Morgan Supersport, with its timeless looks, pitch-perfect handling, and performance, is sure to appeal to car enthusiasts. Despite its limited production, the Supersport is set to make a significant impact in the world of sports cars.
