Top-tier bank recognized as one of the world's leading workplaces by Great Place to Work ranking

Santander, the leading retail and commercial bank founded in 1857 and headquartered in Spain, has been recognised as one of the World's Best Workplaces for 2021. This prestigious accolade was bestowed upon Santander by Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture.

The selection process for the World's Best Workplaces™ is primarily based on anonymous employee feedback collected through the Trust Index™ survey conducted by Great Place to Work®. This survey assesses key aspects of workplace culture such as credibility, respect, fairness, camaraderie, and leadership behaviours proven to drive strong employee experience and market success.

To be considered for this list, a company must first be Great Place To Work-Certified, which entails meeting rigorous standards based on employee survey data reflecting high levels of trust, satisfaction, and positive culture. Companies must demonstrate outstanding workplace culture as reflected in these metrics, show consistent, measurable excellence in employee experience as benchmarked across a global dataset, and typically have large employee participation for statistical validity.

Santander's employees feel 10 percentage points more committed since the bank initiated its cultural transformation in 2014. The bank promotes employees' health and well-being and fosters diversity and inclusion through cultural transformation and flexible, innovative work environments.

Alexandra Brandão, Global Head of Human Resources at Santander, stated that the certification strengthens Santander's purpose to work as a responsible bank. Michael C. Bush, chief executive officer at Great Place to Work®, congratulated the world's best workplaces of 2021, including Santander.

Santander had €1.1 trillion in total funds, 150 million customers, 10,000 branches, and 190,000 employees at the end of the first half of 2021. The bank is the only financial institution on the ranking, coming in at number 24.

Great Place to Work®'s mission is to build a better world by helping every organization become a great place to work For All™. The employee survey platform empowers leaders with feedback, real-time reporting, and insights for data-driven people decisions.

In addition to this recognition, Santander has also been shortlisted for the top 10 of Bloomberg's Gender-Equality Index 2021. The bank has ranked among the world's 25 Best Workplaces for the third consecutive year and was named "Best Bank for Diversity and Inclusion" by Euromoney in 2020.

For companies aspiring to join this esteemed list next year, the confidential and no-cost nomination and survey process grants eligibility for regional, national, and global recognition as top workplaces.
