Spanish BlueSun Purchases Fit: A New Era Dawns for Zittau's Cleaning Products Giant 🇪🇸🇩🇿

Transition underway - Sale of cleaning product manufacturers announced

It's official! Fit GmbH, a pillar of Saxony's cleaning products industry and a household name for its iconic dishwasher detergent, has been sold to the Spanish BlueSun Group. This move marks a significant shift in the company's narrative and could pave the way for new opportunities.

While the purchase price remains confidential, one thing's certain: Fit will continue to operate as an independent entity within the BlueSun Group, and the production site near Zittau will stay put, along with the jobs. Exciting times are ahead as Fit prepares to venture into new territories with its robust brand portfolio, which includes fit dishwasher detergent, Kuschelweich, Rei in der Tube, Gard, Fenjal, and MUM.

CEO Wolfgang Groß, who purchased the company in 1993 from the Treuhandanstalt, has been seeking a buyer for over a year. With BlueSun in the picture, Fit can now expand its footprint beyond Germany and well into Southern Europe, France, and the Benelux countries. The sale is expected to be finalized by the end of August, with a new managing director joining the team shortly after.

Last year, Fit recorded about €377 million in gross sales, with around 290 employees. The Spanish household products manufacturer BlueSun, on the other hand, achieved close to €300 million in net sales with approximately 500 employees. The acquisition is set to create powerful synergies, potentially unlocking vast growth potential for both parties.

Before the acquisition, Fit was a staple in East German households, with production falling from 50,000 to 9,000 tonnes between 1989 and 1991. Today, it stands as a beacon of resilience and a cornerstone of employment in the region around Zittau. While the takeover by a Spanish company raises questions about long-term brand identity, it brings fresh international expertise and resources to the table.

All in all, this acquisition signifies an evolution, not a revolution, for Fit and the Saxony consumer goods sector. The focus remains on preserving stability, safeguarding jobs, and bolstering growth through intentional international cooperation. Let's keep our eyes peeled for continued success stories from the newly merged entities! 🤝️🇪🇸🇩🇿
