US Aerospace Company Secures Deals with Isar Aerospace for Services

In a significant development for the space industry, German launch startup Isar Aerospace has signed a multi-launch contract with Spaceflight Inc., the third in-orbit logistics service company to do so. This contract marks Isar's first for 2023 and a strategic move towards broadening its customer base.

Spaceflight Inc., known for meeting the growing demand for flexible and affordable launch options around the globe, will utilise Isar's Spectrum launch vehicle to meet its needs. The maiden flight of Spectrum is currently targeted for 2023.

The Spectrum launch, scheduled to take place at Norway's Andøya Spaceport, includes a provision for a single dedicated Spectrum flight from the same spaceport in 2026 and a second Spectrum flight in 2025. This contract signifies a promising future for Isar, as it indicates a healthy operational future for the startup.

Isar Aerospace's 28 m Spectrum launch vehicle is designed to carry up to 1,000 kg payloads to Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The company's launch manifest, which includes this contract with Spaceflight Inc., is a testament to its growing launch manifest.

This contract is not Isar's first foray into the space industry. In April 2021, the startup signed its first launch contract with Airbus Defense and Space. Since then, it has also signed contracts with Exotrail and D-Orbit, in addition to Spaceflight Inc.

Isar Aerospace's customer base has expanded beyond its investor group, adding flights for OroraTech, EnduroSat, and Astrocast. Notably, the startup has also contracted EnduroSat, a Bulgarian space company, for the launch of multiple satellites between 2022 and 2025, and received an order from Elevation Space for launching two space capsules in 2026.

In November, Isar signed a contract with Exotrail for several missions to orbit for its spacevan orbital transfer vehicle. The startup also signed a deal with Italy's D-Orbit to carry its ION Satellite Carrier to orbit in June.

Isar Aerospace is backed by notable investors such as Airbus Ventures, which participated in the startup's $17M Series A. With such partnerships and contracts in place, Isar Aerospace is poised for a successful future in the space industry.

Work on Spectrum's maiden flight is progressing well, according to Isar Aerospace. As the company continues to make strides in the space industry, it is clear that its launch manifest is a harbinger of an exciting future for space exploration and in-orbit logistics.
