V & S Launches '1 Hour Free Parking' to Boost Local Retail
The Citymanagement, in collaboration with the Villingen and Schwenningen sectors of the Gewerbeverband Oberzentrum e.V. (GVO), is introducing '1 Hour Free Parking in V & S' this October 2025. The initiative aims to boost local retail and gastronomy by offering free parking for shoppers.
The pilot phase in October will see 2,000 parking tickets distributed for the Parkservice Hüfner parking garages, allowing customers to park for free for one hour while shopping at participating stores. The purchase of these tickets was offered at a special price of one euro per ticket for non-GVO members and fifty cents per ticket for GVO members.
Many stores in both city centers are taking part, with examples including Blumen Riesle, Modehaus Zinser, and Welzer Wohnen. Although a full list of participating companies is not available, customers can easily identify these businesses by a sticker on their shop window or entrance.
The goal of this action is to make shopping in Villingen and Schwenningen easier and strengthen stationary retail and gastronomy. It aims to create added value for retail, gastronomy, and customers, increasing the attractiveness of the city centers.
After the pilot phase, a questionnaire will be distributed to customers to evaluate the success of the '1 Hour Free Parking in V & S' action. If successful, plans are in place to continue and expand the initiative.
