Vodafone Refunds Woman €900 After Persistent Contract Cancellation
A woman successfully cancelled her Vodafone mobile phone contract, but the company initially refused to acknowledge it. She had to persist and eventually received a refund of around €900.
The woman, a consumer, had signed up for a mobile phone contract online with Vodafone. Within the 14-day cancellation period, she sent a notice to cancel the contract. According to consumer advocates, this is sufficient, preferably sent by registered mail or email with confirmation.
Vodafone, however, continued the contract despite the valid cancellation. The woman was advised to stay persistent and eventually contacted Vodafone directly, as the cancellation should be directed to the contract partner, not just the online retailer. After further inquiries, Vodafone finally refunded her approximately €900. In such disputes, proof of timely cancellation can be crucial.
The woman's persistence paid off, and she successfully cancelled her Vodafone contract and received a refund. This case serves as a reminder to consumers to stay persistent and keep records of cancellations to avoid such disputes.
