Wiesbaden Arts Program 'Freiräume' Returns in 2026 with 'We Must Talk' Theme
The city of Wiesbaden and the Hessian State Theatre are once again supporting local arts with the 'Freiräume – Projekt-Stipendium International Maifestspiele' program. The 2026 edition, themed 'We must talk', aims to foster dialogue about arts' role in democracy. Applications for stipends up to €8,000 are open from October 8 to November 4.
The funding program, a collaboration between Wiesbaden's Culture Department and the Hessian State Theatre, offers financial leeway, infrastructure, and visibility to freelance artists. Successful applicants will have their projects featured in the International Maifestspiele 2026 program, showcased at the Hessian State Theatre and other Wiesbaden locations. This year's motto, 'We must talk', encourages artists to explore arts' contribution to a democratic society.
Wiesbaden, proud of its vibrant arts scene and the International Maifestspiele, continues to invest in local talent through the 'Freiräume' program. The 2026 edition, with its thought-provoking theme, promises to enrich both artists and audiences.
