Stepping Away from the Table: Nicole Bowyer's Casino License Up for Grabs

Wife of Bookie Connected to Ohtani Scandal Potentially Faces Loss of Resorts World License

In the gambling world, things are heating up for Nicole Bowyer, wife of the bookie linked to the betting scandal engulfing baseball sensation Shohei Ohtani's interpreter. It looks like she might be out of the game, as her casino license with Resorts World Las Vegas faces potential termination.

The impending loss of her license could be due to the Nevada Gaming Control Board's August complaint. The allegations claim that Nicole received payments from Resorts World Las Vegas, despite being aware that some of her husband Mathew Bowyer's funds derived from questionable sources, including illegal activities.

Nicole, an independent agent for the Genting-owned casino, may soon find herself without a role if the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) accepts a proposed settlement at their next meeting. This settlement would see Nicole admit to the charges brought by the Attorney General's office, resulting in her Nevada gaming license with Resorts World being pulled for a minimum of five years.

While Nicole retains the option to reapply for licensing after this period, her admission of guilt would waive any right to a public hearing or judicial review of the commission's decision. Moreover, she would need to cooperate fully with the NGCB, federal, and local law enforcement, understanding that any information disclosed might be used for ongoing investigations.

This supposed settlement follows Mathew's illegal acceptance of numerous bets from Ippei Mizuhara, who earlier admitted to embezzling nearly $17 million from Ohtani to settle his debts with Mathew. In response, Mathew agreed to plead guilty to various related charges just prior to the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) filing an August complaint against his wife.

The potential revocation of Nicole's license serves as another red flag for Resorts World Las Vegas, which is already grappling with a host of troubles in Nevada. The Nevada Gaming Commission's 12-point complaint essentially accused Resorts World casino of serving as a hub for criminal activity. The casino has been given an extended deadline to address these accusations, set for December 9.
