Workshop Introducing Traffic Management Strategies for Pedestrians

In the heart of Baden-Württemberg, the city of Ulm is inviting citizens, administration, politics, and associations to participate in a series of foot traffic checks aimed at improving pedestrian safety and promoting walking in the city.

The first walk will take place on September 29, 2025, from 7 to 9 pm, at the Club Orange of vh Ulm. The second route will be covered on October 8, 2025, with the exact location to be announced. The goal of these checks is to identify weak points and obstacles that hinder movement and visibility, making walking unattractive or even dangerous.

The foot traffic checks are professionally accompanied by the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg and the specialist office Planersocietà. The discussions aim to identify the current state, challenges, safe areas, and space shortages of pedestrian traffic in Ulm.

These checks are part of a larger initiative to bring together different perspectives and identify concrete improvement potential for pedestrian traffic. The goal is to make Ulm a more pedestrian-friendly city, where those who walk can take in their surroundings more intensively, stay longer, and strengthen the urban space.

The theme for this year's foot traffic check is "Clear the sidewalks." During the walks through the city center, on-site conditions will be analyzed, and possible solutions for improving pedestrian traffic will be discussed. Proposals for promoting pedestrian traffic will be developed based on the observations and findings from the foot traffic checks.

Citizens are warmly invited to participate in these important discussions about the future of pedestrian traffic in Ulm. The first walk will kick off on September 29, 2025. For more information, please visit the official city or transportation department websites.
